Found in the town of Albany, the regional centre, the Tanglehead brewing company, decorated in warm chocolaty browns makes for a nice relaxing place to have lunch. In addition to the standard restaurant fair, as the name implies they also produce their own beer in a micros brewery on site that you can watch through a large glass window as you eat.
They produce a Pils, a Pale Ale, A Light and a Stout. For drinking we tried the Pils and the Pale Ale. They were both good examples of the style of beer with nice strong flavours and good colour. Sadly, due to the drink driving laws and time getting away from us we didn’t get a chance to try the other beers. I can say however that the stout makes a very good pie sauce. |
As was just implied, I chose the Tanglehead Beef, Potato and Limeburners Stout Pie while my wife chose the White Ale Beer Battered Fish and Chips. Both dishes were generally very good and fairly well presented. They were also reasonably priced so we left well and truly satisfied.
It's also worth noting that the place seemed to do a lot of live music in the evenings, had we been staying overnight in Albany I’d have liked to go back and finish tasting the beers. All in all, well worth a look.

1 comments so far (post your own)G`day,
A couple of years ago I complained that your 2009 Christmas Ale was flat,..
You suggested that I drink it warmer,& in a thinner glass. This did help a bit .But cellaring at 14 degrees for a couple of years has done the trick & on the weekend found it simply beautiful.
Cheers
John
