The Alpaca Farm Wildlife Park

The Alpaca farm is basically an animal park where you can go in and touch most of the animals on display. They are fairly flexible in that they don’t mind if you head out into the paddocks (just remember to shut the gates) to feed the animals up close. They also breed Alpacas commercially which tends to mean that if you happen to have around $1300 then you can take home a breeding female.

They have a mix of both native and farm animals on display as well as a mixture of native birds. Of the farm animals, there is also a good selection of baby animals such as lambs and goats that you can climb into the pens and have a play.

Every day at around 3pm is feeding time for the babies, this is a great time for the kids, they bring out a whole pile of milk bottles and give them out to whoever wants to have a go at feeding the animals. Then, you find yourself a lamb or baby goat and watch how fast they can demolish the contents of the bottle. The kids love it.

Apart from the baby feeding time, the entrance price includes a small bag of animal food for each person. You can use this food to attract all the other animals to you so you can have a good close look and give them a pat.

Overall, I’d say that if you have children or haven’t seen this kind of thing before then it’s definitely worth a look. One piece of advice I’ll give though is to watch the weather. It had rained quite heavily the day before we went and the place was covered in mud. In this case, either wear shoes that can cope with a bit of mud or skip it and wait for a drier day.
